| Louisiana's criminal justice system was a financial burden that did not make us safer until our state recently passed needed reforms. I want to continue these sensible reforms that enhance public safety, including by eliminating cash bail, reducing incarceration for administrative fines and fees, and reforming three strikes laws. | |||
| There is consensus among educators and healthcare professionals that early childhood education is critical to the growth and development of our children. As a state, we have been unsuccessful in funding such programs on a lasting basis. As the husband of a pediatrician and a father of two young children, I have come to understand this issue and will make the funding of early childhood development programs a priority. Allowing for sports betting is a viable way to help fund this effort, but there are others as well. |
